The Reverend Dr. Eileen W. Lindner is Senior Pastor, Presbyterian Church at Tenafly and a Presbyterian Minister of Word and Sacrament. She has served pastorates in Illinois, New York and New Jersey. A graduate of Waynesburg College in Pennsylvania, she holds masters degrees from Aurora University (counseling psychology), McCormick Theological Seminary (theology), and the PhD degree from Union Theological Seminary, New York.
Rev. Lindner has had a diverse career in service to the church. In addition to serving in the parish ministry she was an overseas mission associate for the Presbyterian Church USA in Egypt and Lebanon assigned to the Middle East Council of Churches. In the mid 1970s she served the White House in the area of child welfare policy and has taught at the nation’s leading seminaries. Most notably she was Deputy General Secretary of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA for many years where her duties included a variety of national and international ministries including child advocacy, research studies and planning. As Editor of the Yearbook of American and Canadian Churches since 1998, she has compiled and analyzed the most extensive database of national denominations available in this country. She serves as Dean of the Chapel at the Children’s Defense Fund’s Annual Proctor Institute for Child Advocacy Ministry.
